About the artists
Luba and Hannah started playing together when they were both students at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama. Praised for their connection on stage and honest musicality, they won awards from the Martin Musical Scholarship Fund, the Park Lane Group and Making Music UK, appeared on BBC Radio 3 and gave recitals at the Royal Festival Hall and St John’s Smith Square, London. They have also appeared at numerous different music societies and festivals around the UK. They have a keen interest in all different types of repertoire, from baroque to contemporary music, and will be creating new arrangements to present in concerts for next season.
Luba Tunnicliffe - Viola
Luba is currently Principal Viola of the Netherlands Chamber Orchestra, based in Amsterdam. She frequently gives concerts across the UK with her two award-winning chamber groups, the Pelléas Ensemble and the Ruisi Quartet, and as a soloist, has performed with the Philharmonia Orchestra and given recitals at London’s Royal Festival Hall and St John’s Smith Square. As Principal Viola of the 12 ensemble she is currently participating in a Wigmore Hall residency for 2023-2024, has performed in the BBC proms and has collaborated with artists of all different genres such as Johnny Greenwood, Nick Cave, Kojey Radical and Laura Marling.
Hannah Watson Emmrich - Piano
Hannah’s performances have included solo, chamber and song recitals at St Martin-in-the- Fields, the Barbican, LSO St Luke’s, Cardiff’s St David’s Hall, St John’s Smith Square and the Royal Festival Hall, as well as performances on Radio 3’s In Tune and Afternoon on 3, and a scene in The Lady in the Van. From 2017-2021, Hannah worked as Music Director at the Anglican Cathedral in Nairobi, where she continued to perform as a solo and chamber recitalist and concerto soloist with orchestras including the Nairobi Orchestra and Kenyan National Youth Orchestra.
