Our meeting for October will be at Tandy in Southpark Meadows at noon on Oct 5. Aaron will show us how to do the gold leaf painting technique. We will also make an easy and small tooled piece to use for this project. If you are new to tooling, we will have some stamps available to use.Supplies:
- leather 7-8 oz. (supplied)
- gold leaf foil (supplied)
- steel wool, grade 2, medium course (supplied)
- brushes (small, chisel tip and med. stiff round blender) (supplied)
- glue (metal leaf specific) (supplied)
- solvent, eg. Fiebing's Dye Reducer (supplied)
- simple tooling supplies (swivel knife, beveler, background, pear shader, etc.) or use stamps provided
- sponge for wetting leather
- transfer paper (optional)
- stylus (optional)
- cutting tools (scissors, craft knife, etc)
- edge finishing supplies (optional)
- dye (alcohol based) with applicator
- high gloss finish
For our trading cards, the suggested theme this month is Elements, If you wish to participate, bring a trading card approx. 2.5" x 3.5" that you have created to trade with other members.
Our optional home project is to finish up the Burlington bag from our last meeting (September).
Also, for those wishing to become or remain members, it's always a good time to pay dues. If you're a first time member, your first month is free. If you decide to continue with us, it's a prorated fee - $2/month through December. Otherwise, it's $24 for the year or $45 for the family rate.
