***The NEW Wheel-a-Thon Date will be Thursday, May 30, 2024. ***Please use the link below to take a look at the many areas where Wheel-a-Thon Volunteers are needed! Because of this new date, we’ve needed to start over from scratch in recruiting volunteers and we need many volunteers to help this event happen safely – people to show wheelers where to turn on the route, snack table helpers, check-in helpers and lots more. Please sign up here if you are able to help: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/4090D44A5A828A46-49140795-2024#/
We can’t wait for our upcoming Wheel-a-Thon! This year students will start out by taking a class photo together, and will then get set in the staging area where they will test their brakes and get their helmets on. Next, they will wheel a course around a portion of the school, and then finish up with snacks and dancing.

Must have helmets if on wheels (bikes, scooters, etc.)
Come to check-in table to get name labels for wheels and helmets, then park wheels behind class cone.

Step 1: Class photos taken at baseball backstop then collect bikes from field
Step 2: Bike staging area (in bus circle) to check brakes, helmets, etc.
Step 3: Wheeling the course around the school (two laps)

Wheel-a-Thon FAQ
1) Are electric scooters okay? Nope, no electric anything, just old-school wheels.
2) Can they bring roller-blades, a skateboard, or a hoverboard? Sorry, no hoverboards and no skateboards. Rollerblades can only be used if they have some kind of brake on them and it’s highly recommended that students wear protective wrist guards in addition to helmets.
3) Can scooters be part of the swap? Sure. The PTA doesn’t personally have bikes to swap, we are just providing a venue for families to swap if they would like. If a swap is not made, the wheels would need to be taken back to their original homes.
4) What if a student doesn’t have a helmet, will there be extras to borrow? Yes, we have a large box with varying sizes. But, if you don’t have a helmet the best thing to do would be to come the day before the wheel-a-thon between 2:30-4:30 and get a helmet.
5) Kids said that the labels used in the past won’t come off their bikes, and they really don’t want another put on to make it worse. Do they have to have a label? Can the concerned students use something else- like painter’s tape? They are totally right! We have ugly helmets at our house too because the stickers won’t come off. That’s why we are using removable labels this year!
6) If a student doesn’t want to participate, are they allowed to walk instead? They can definitely walk instead of wheeling!
