About this Event
We are excited to invite you to our 2026 Winter Event: a history lecture about the Grimké Sisters with Lee Ann Bain, a local historian, tour guide, and Grimké Sisters expert. For those who are not already familiar with the names, Sarah Moore Grimké (1792–1873) and Angelina Emily Grimké (1805–1879) were American writers, educators, and public speakers at a time when women were not supposed to do this. They are best known for their advocacy of abolitionism and women's rights, and they were born here in Charleston, South Carolina. We are excited to learn all about them from Lee Ann Bain!
This event will take place on Thursday, February 19th, 2026 from 6-7 PM at the Main Library – Community Room B (68 Calhoun St., Charleston).
Tickets are $20 per person – as always, guests are welcome! Please register each attendee individually.
