Join us this Thursday, May 9 from 6:30-8 pm at Redux Art Center for our May meeting! Club member Donna of Southern Heart Sounds & Stones will be giving a talk on "What's in a name?" where she will go over different names used in the gem & mineral market for different materials and when does it matter. She will have example items on hand to display the concepts for discussion.

LGMS meetings are a fantastic place to connect with others who share an interest in rockhounding, fossils, lapidary arts, metalsmithing and geology.
Come mingle with other club members starting at 6:30 pm. At 7 pm we begin with a short business meeting. The monthly program follows the business meeting. Examples of programs include live demonstrations, Q&A sessions, videos and more! If you are interested in organizing a monthly program we would love to hear from you!
The Lowcountry Gem and Mineral Society (LGMS) of Charleston, South Carolina is a non-profit organization. The society was chartered on April 18, 1969 by Skiles F. Montague. Our purpose is "to foster the interest in and to facilitate the study of gems, minerals, fossils, and other related fields of geology and earth sciences" throughout the Lowcountry.
