Low Rent | Dir. Cloudberry MacLean | 1hr 15mins | Scotland | 2024Please join us on this winter evening for a screening of Low Rent by artist, filmmaker and activist Cloudberry Maclean.
This wonderful film is a loose document of the year Cloudberry spent secretly living on their Edinburgh Allotment. It follows the passing of the seasons and the many moments and wildlife encounters that took place over those magical 12 months.
Beautifully shot scenes such as the early dawn viewed from the hut doorway and a close up of a scavenging fox will captivate and intrigue you. This film also explores ever pertinent issues such as land use/ownership in Scotland, poverty, class, inequality, capitalism and the joy of living.
Cloudberry will be on hand too to present the film and do a short Q+A afterwards.
Well kent Glasgow musician, improviser and creative catalyst Jer Reid collaborated on the film score and will be here to play a short live set in collaboration with dance and movement artist Fran Till
We will also be serving a vegan meal based around allotment produce so please come with a hungry belly as well as a hungry mind [do let us know any dietary issues when booking your tickets].
Tickets will be available from Ticketsource on a pay what you can/feel basis with all monies going to pay event costs and the artists involved on the evening.
