About this Event
Leave No Trace Awareness Workshop for the League of Outdoor Women
Join us for an engaging 1.5 hour workshop designed to inspire and educate its participants about responsible outdoor practices through the lens of Leave No Trace principles. This session combines a classroom-style presentation with an outdoor activity to deepen understanding and encourage real-world application.
The workshop begins with an hour-long
interactive presentation that introduces the history of Leave No Trace and the mission of the organization itself. Participants will learn how Leave No Trace evolved into a global leader in outdoor ethics and explore its ongoing efforts to minimize human impact on natural spaces. From there, we’ll dive into the Seven Principles of Leave No Trace, discussing strategies for reducing impact while enjoying the outdoors. Through an engaging PowerPoint presentation, participants will gain a deeper understanding of the principles, background of the organization and discuss practical solutions tailored to their outdoor experiences.
Following the classroom portion, we’ll head outdoors for a hands-on activity that reinforces what was covered. This practical session might include building a "mound fire", evaluating campsite choices, or practicing proper waste disposal techniques. Working together, participants will apply their learning to realistic scenarios, fostering collaboration and building confidence in their ability to make sustainable decisions in the outdoors.
This workshop offers a perfect opportunity to connect with like-minded women while gaining valuable skills to protect and enjoy nature responsibly. Whether you’re new to Leave No Trace or seeking to refresh your knowledge, this experience will provide practical tools and inspiration for your next adventure.
