About this Event

We're excited to invite you to our third Feast of 2024!

Join us to celebrate wholesome food, the Falmouth Food Co-op and our Community field Loveland. We will gather around the feasting table to enjoy the seasonal bounty of our local food producers right where the veg for the Food Co-op is grown. Following hot on the heels of the Autumn Equinox; this feast will herald a change in the season and showcase a late Summer crop of squash, grains and late ripening fruit.

We will have the usual deliciously seasonal, sustainably sourced two-course set-menu cooked on the fire at the Loveland Field Kitchen. There will be zingy herbal mocktails, and some musical accompaniment. We will have a craft and games area to keep us entertained between courses too. Everyone is welcome at the feast whether you are a regular volunteer of the field or if this will be your first visit; please join the community spirit and invite friends too!

We strive for 100% of the ingredients for our feasts to be organic or ecologically sourced. Most of the fresh produce comes straight from Loveland's market garden, with the rest coming from our network of other local growers and organic wholesalers . We cook our feasts on fire, and use wood from Working Woodlands Cornwall, who are local foresters championing regenerative woodland management. The money you spend on your ticket goes on to support these amazing producers, creating a beautiful circular economy.

Tickets / Pricing:

We ticket our feasts so that we have an idea of numbers. ensuring that there is plenty of food for everyone but also no waste. Tickets are priced on a sliding scale from £0-£18, and of course anything raised after covering the event costs will go straight back into the Loveland project! We want to make ecological, local food accessible, but we also need to fundraise for our community project, or atleast break even! We think our feasts are pretty excellent value for an organic two-course meal!

To give you an idea, the cost price of the 2-course meal is on average £10 per head. This covers the cost of ingredients, our lovely chef, eventbrite fees (!) and bits such as straw bales and renting a marquee. The organisation and running of these events is done by volunteers, keeping the cost low. We want to ensure it's open to everyone, but we also don't want to lose money. So please pay what you can afford, and if you can, a little extra will go a long way to covering a handful of £0 tickets for those who need them, or go on to support our community field. Everyone is welcome at our table.

If you would like one of our £0 tickets, please get in touch at [email protected].

BYO:

( Bring your own....) To reduce our footprint even further we're asking you to bring along a bowl and cutlery for yourself so we can serve you our delicious food in something reusable. (We'll send a reminder a couple of days beforehand).

About The Falmouth Food Co-op:

FFC is a community interest company (CIC), or ‘business with purpose’ that was formally created in 2019 to benefit the people of Falmouth and Penryn, as well as the wider bio-region by promoting the production and consumption of agro-ecological food. We have three sister projects, The Grocery, an online food shop that sells local, agroecological produce at a fair price. The Kitchen (FFCK), a meals-on-wheels delivery service that cooks nutritious, ethically sourced meals for those in need every week (recently surpassing the 63,000 meal milestone!). And Loveland, a 10 acre community field in Penryn, providing a space to learn and engage with nature, grow food, and build community.
