Celebrate Community, Culture, and Conservation at Love Your Maunga!Join us on Saturday, November 23, 2024, for the Love Your Maunga event at Te Pane o Mataoho / Te Ara Pueru / Māngere Mountain!
The Tūpuna Maunga Authority in partnership with the Māngere-Ōtāhuhu Local Board invites everyone to this special gathering at the award-winning Whānau Ātea.
Come together to honour the cultural significance of the ancestral mountains of Tāmaki Makaurau while enjoying a day full of engaging activities for the whole whānau! Here’s what we have planned:
- Community Hāngī Fundraiser: Enjoy a delicious hāngī for just $10! Proceeds support Etū Rākau and the new mara kai (garden) at the Māngere Community Enviro Hub, promoting sustainable food practices.
- Kēmu Māori and Cultural Workshops: Join Harko Brown and the Māngere Mountain Education Centre team for interactive Māori games and activities that celebrate our rich cultural heritage.
- Tūpuna Maunga Information Hub: Learn about the Tūpuna Maunga Authority’s conservation work and how you can get involved in initiatives like native planting days and pest-free trapping.
- Maunga Clean-Up: Etū Rākau will lead a clean-up activation to help spread awareness of the impact of rubbish to our natural environment. Collected rubbish will be creatively repurposed for fun activities throughout the day!
Let’s come together to celebrate and protect our cherished Tūpuna Maunga. Bring your whānau and friends for a day of connection, learning, and fun!
