Live Music – War Poetry – Performance – FilmDavid Bowie was uniquely gifted. His work spans many contemporary music genres. In 2004 he stepped back from live performance for health reasons and by 2012 it seemed he would be producing no further work.
The Secret Life project was established here in Wexford Town to explore and celebrate so much of his work which was compelling but little known in the mainstream.
One thread of his work was a weave through the despair and desolation of warfare.
LOVE and WAR, live with Secret Life, combines Bowie’s music with footage specially compiled by Inca Film and Riff Raff Theatre Ensemble’s Theatre of War.
Reflections in a River of Blood is a literary theatre prelude to LOVE&WAR combining original war poetry and polemic with Riff Raff Theatre’s Performance Art Theatre.
This production is a premiere. Conceived before the Russian invasion of Ukraine, it has been overtaken by events in Ukraine, Gaza and elsewhere.......and warfare throughout the generations. It begs many questions, the first being: ‘How on Earth can anyone tolerate the slaughter of innocents?’.
