Love and Healing: Creative Writing Workshop

We welcome you to join us for a free-flowing creative writing workshop inspired by the themes of love, healing, and self-discovery explored in the poetry book “When She Loves” by Katrina Rojas. This workshop offers a safe and supportive space for participants to reflect on their own experiences, write, and release in community. "When She Loves" chronicles the emotional journey that Katrina experienced during her teenage years and young adulthood. While still in the midst of this journey, it revolves around navigating love while striving to understand oneself. Despite feeling fortunate to have loved and been loved in various ways, they've learned that, regardless of how much one gives themselves to another, love can still elude, wander, and drift away. Even when holding on desperately, love may not always prove sufficient. Katrina’s experiences have taught her that sometimes love must undergo transformation, which might entail finally letting go, asserting oneself, and prioritizing self-love. By the conclusion of the collection, readers bear witness to a path towards healing and freedom through radical vulnerability and acceptance.

Katrina Rojas (Poet, Creative, Entrepreneur)

Katrina Rojas is a Boston-native Afro-Latina poet, graphic designer, creative, entrepreneur, vulnerability advocate, and community builder. As founder of KR Design Studio, she helps individuals and businesses stand out and tell their story through design, specializing in branding and website design. In 2023, she published her first collection of poems, When She Loves, which chronicles an emotional journey of love and a path towards healing and freedom. Through poetry, Katrina explores the themes of love, identity, spirituality, and self-discovery, drawing inspiration from her life experiences, dreams and curiosities.

Azeb M. Freitas is a multi-hyphenate creative professional originally from the Greater Boston area, currently residing in New York City. She is a classically trained dancer, film photographer, model, poet, podcast producer and MC with a mission to create, connect and transform the future through her work. Recently, she has been exploring holistic healing by facilitating creative wellness sessions based in art therapy practices and hosting salons to foster community.
