About this Event
Are you open to love? How much love is enough to sustain you? How can we know love? Can love extend across borders, across oceans? Can love build futures absent of oppression, colonialism, environmental degradation, futures that liberate us? How can we live by a love ethic?
Lov/ethic delves into expansive definitions of love, examining closely familial, platonic, or romantic relationships while recognizing love’s social and political capacity to create a more equitable, sustainable world. A multimedia exhibition ranging from architecture to crochet to performance art, Lov/ethic captures an array of expressions of care and creates a space for viewers to deeply engage with the role of love and community within their lives.
This event will be at Third Space on July 20th from 2-6PM. From 2 - 4PM, viewers can engage with the art in the exhibition. There will be a guided meditation from 4 - 4:30 PM, followed by a discussion of the exhibition and how its themes of love in self, community, and liberation resonate in our lives, guided by journalist Lotoya Francis, community worker Saher Al Khamash, and Amalia Rose. Lov/ethic will be closed out by a collective art making activity, where participants will create a new work based upon the art, performance and dialogue that they experienced. Light refreshments will be served throughout the event.
A portion of ticket proceeds will be donated to Kinder Relief and Bronx Anti-War Coalition.
