The 5th Lou Hannis memorial cup will take place on Sunday 31st Aug 2025. Priors Park (GL52 5JU) @ 12pm.
The Lou Hannis memorial cup was set up in 2021 in memory of Lou (Ljubica) Hannis who sadly passed away from cancer on 27th November 2020. Since 2021 we have raised over £8000 and the Hannis family have continue to raise money for Cancer Research UK in memory of Lou.
Read Lou’s story below: In 2007 Lou was diagnosed with breast cancer. After a lump was removed and chemotherapy treatment, Lou was given the all clear. 10 years to the month of the first diagnosis the cancer returned, but this time was on her lungs. Lou was told the removal of the cancer or chemotherapy wasn’t an option but was offered to try a new drug which had just been realised after clinical trials. There was no guarantee the drug would would work, or if it did how much longer Lou would get to live. The drug kept the cancer stable for 3 years but in June 2020 Lou was told the cancer had spread to her liver and the drug was no longer an option. Lou was given months to live but never gave up. She fought as hard as she could but in the last couple of months her health deteriorated and she sadly passed away with Martyn, Louise & Richard by her side. We appreciate all the support whether it be by donations, promoting the annual event or just kind messages of love and support.
