We are pleased to inform you that the upcoming Losar (New Year) — the Year of the Fire Male Horse, 2153 — will begin on February 18, which marks the first day of Losar.On this auspicious occasion, Sherpa Kyidug will remain open for all three days of Losar to welcome visitors, devotees, and community members. As per our tradition, the main Losar celebration will be held on the third day, just like last year, with the presence of city officials, community leaders, and our beloved brothers and sisters.
To celebrate this special day, the front street will be closed, and the program will include:
Traditional Losar Puja
Monastery visits
Dharma dances
Senge (Snow Lion) dance
Sherpa cultural group dance
We kindly request all community members to gather at Sherpa Kyidug on Friday, February 20, 2026, at 8:00 AM, to celebrate Losar together in unity, harmony, and joy.
Let us come together to honor our rich cultural heritage and welcome the New Year with prayers, happiness, and blessings for all.
