Before they were known as The Lords of 52nd Street, these musicians were fixtures of the Long Island and New York club scene. Richie Cannata, Russell Javors, Doug Stegmeyer, and Liberty DeVitto crossed paths while playing local gigs, eventually coming together when an up-and-coming Billy Joel was searching for a band that captured a true “New York sound.” That chemistry took shape in the studio during the recording of Joel’s Turnstiles album, where their sharp musicianship and city-rooted energy helped define a fresh, powerful sound that quickly connected with audiences. That partnership would go on to change music history. Coined "The Lords of 52nd Street" by producer Phil Ramone, the band recorded and toured behind Billy Joel’s most iconic albums, including The Stranger, 52nd Street, Glass Houses, and The Nylon Curtain.
Their work helped sell millions of records, earn multiple Grammy Awards, and fill legendary venues around the world. After reuniting following their 2014 induction into the Long Island Music Hall of Fame, The Lords of 52nd Street returned to the stage to rave reviews, continuing to perform the songs they helped create, with the same fire, precision, and unmistakable New York spirit.
Joining them is local talent, Dopey Lopes and The Up All Night Band! Bringing excitement and energy to each note and every song. They are the real deal, authentic and faithful to the Rock and Roll genre. They play Dopey's signature original alternative rock along with some great covers by his friends like Willie Nile, James Montgomery, Mark Cutler and The Neighborhoods. Recent sold out appearances opening for Jim Belushi, James Montgomery, Willie Nile, The Uptown Horns, Barry Goudreau and Kevin James Graham keep Dopey right where he needs to be. Up on stage in front of an audience making folks smile!
