About this Event
Following a triumphant 2024 marked by the release of their much-anticipated debut album, *Scream If You Wanna Go Faster*, under Alcopop! Records, the dynamic Manchester punk band Loose Articles is excited to unveil their Arts Council England-backed tour, "Kick Like A Girl Extra Time!" for 2025. This tour is not just a series of concerts; it’s a movement aimed at empowering women and non-binary individuals by actively involving them in the live music scene.
Loose Articles are committed to creating a supportive and inclusive environment that encourages women and non-binary individuals to explore various roles within the music industry. Whether it’s on stage, behind the soundboard, or managing technical aspects, this initiative offers hands-on experience and mentorship. By shadowing the band and crew during setup, soundcheck, and performances, participants gain invaluable insights and skills that are often difficult to acquire in a male-dominated industry.
The band will make a special stop at The Empire, where they invite everyone to be part of an unforgettable night filled with music and energy. Running from January through March 2025, this tour will traverse grassroots venues throughout northern England, venues that are often overlooked by the mainstream circuit.
Loose Articles are a punk quartet with a mission: to amplify voices that often go unheard. Their music speaks directly to the challenges and triumphs faced by women and non-binary individuals, delivering messages wrapped in discordant, hypnotic rhythms, and radical politics. Their sound is both feminine and fierce, embodying a powerful statement against the status quo.
This project not only promises electrifying performances but also provides invaluable opportunities for aspiring female and non-binary musicians and technicians. Participants can engage in a Q&A session, ask questions about navigating the industry, and even secure a support slot for their band if they are just starting out. Plus, young people involved will enjoy free entry to these vibrant gigs, ensuring a night of pure punk rock celebration open to all.
Already heavily championed by Steve Lamacq at BBC 6 Music, with strong support from Chris Hawkins, Tom Robinson, and Amy Lamé, Loose Articles have also caught the attention of John Kennedy at Radio X, featuring on the Evening Playlist and Spotify’s The Punk List.
The band has been recognized by NME as part of The NME 100 list, endorsed by punk-friendly fashion labels Fred Perry Subculture and Underground England, and named in Under The Radar Magazine’s 22 for 2022. They've also appeared on BBC One’s Football Focus, showcasing their passion for the beautiful game. Their track "Kick Like A Girl" was released during the Women’s 2022 Euros, with Shoot Music supporting key sporting playlists, alongside a special request from Dave Grohl to support the Foo Fighters in Manchester.
Their involvement in initiatives like these reflects their commitment to not only making great music but also fostering a community where everyone, regardless of gender identity, can thrive and express themselves freely.
Tickets are now on sale, so don't miss out on this chance to experience the raw, unfiltered energy of Loose Articles live and be part of a movement that champions diversity and inclusion in music. Join us as we kickstart the party with a bang, celebrating the power and potential of women and non-binary individuals in the music world!
