Looking to start a career path in the Food & Beverage industry?

Our FREE 10- week YCafe Training program will provide you with employment skills, hands-on work experience at our YCafe, and connections with employers eager to hire you! In addition, you get paid to participate! The 10-week program includes:

• 10-weeks of in-person workshops, skills training, and pre-employment supports
• Weekly living allowance
• Hands-on training and work experience at our YCafe, including barista skills training, kitchen skills, customer service skills, and more!
• One-on-one support from an Employment Coach, including employment coaching and individual resume, cover letter and interview support
• Industry-specific certifications such as First Aid, Super Host, Foodsafe, and more
• Free six-month YMCA Membership (includes gym, pool and fitness classes)

WHEN AND WHERE:

• Sept 18-Nov 24, 2023
• Workshop hours: Monday-Friday: 9:00am-3:30pm
• Cafe hours: Monday-Thursday: 7:30am-5:30pm; Friday 7:30am-7:30pm; Saturday and Sunday: 8:30am-2:30pm
• Location: Tong Louie YMCA, 14988 57 Avenue, Surrey, BC
• Paid work experience hours at YCafe. Must be available for 6-hour shifts ranging from 7:30 am - 7:30 pm on weekdays, and 8:30 am - 2:30 pm on weekends.

ELIGIBILITY:

• Ages 17+
• Canadian citizen, Permanent Resident, Convention Refugee; Refugee Claimant with "Notice of Decision" document; CUAET
• Eligible to work in Canada
• Unemployed or under-employed (working fewer than 20 hours per week)
• Those not currently in school full-time and will not be returning to full-time studies within the next six months
