About this Event
It’s been 10 years since Freddie Gray’s death in 2015 and the Uprising that followed. Many in Baltimore remember the grief, anger and pain of those days, but also the solidarity and organizing that came from taking to the streets and declaring “Whose streets? Our streets.” It’s a phrase you still hear around Baltimore, signifying the power that every resident has to make change in their neighborhoods.
Baltimore Beat, a Black-led nonprofit newspaper, will host a panel discussion featuring Tawanda Jones, the sister of Tyrone West, who was killed by BCPD in 2013.
The panel will also feature:
Devin Allen - award winning photographer
Lawrence Grandpre - Author and Director of Research for Leaders of a Beautiful Struggle
Lisa Snowden - Editor In Chief of Baltimore Beat
Join us as we discuss the current state of matters in Baltimore City and reflect on a pivotal moment in Baltimore's history.
