Representatives of the Vardy Community Historical Society and the Tennessee Archive of Moving Image and Sound will present one-of a-kind 1948 home movies of Vardy, a small community in Hancock County known for the Melungeon heritage of many of its residents. Presenters will discuss the history of the community its relationship with Presbyterian missionaries, as well as the characteristics of the film and its preservation process.Lectures are free and open to the public. In-person at the East Tennessee History Center, 601 S Gay Street or online on Facebook Live, advance registration is required for Zoom. Guests are invited to bring a “Brown Bag” lunch.
