The HYPE Series is back for its grand finale with a focus on taking risks along our career path. In this last installment, James W. Sarvis will share some insights into his career as well as provide some advice on how to take risks. James previously served as COO and E.V.P. at AeroMexico, leading their Airport, Maintenance, Flight Operations and Cargo operations around the world. Currently, James is currently the V.P. – Global Cleanliness. This group is responsible for continuing to advance our strategy and capabilities toward the future of cleanliness and sanitization onboard our aircraft and within Delta's airport facilities around the world (This group was created in the beginning stages of the COVID-19).

Prior to his assignment with AeroMexico, James held the title of V.P. - In-Flight Services providing leadership and strategic direction related to managing the day-to-day customer service performance of Delta’s more than 24,000 flight attendants, supervisory and administrative personnel spanning the globe in 13 U.S. and 4 international bases. In addition, James oversaw the development of In-Flight policy and procedures to help ensure the safety and security of Delta customers and flight attendant crews. At the time, James was a FAA certified flight attendant.
Throughout his 48-year career at Delta, James has helped influence the “Hispanización” of the airline in various areas including the use of bilingual staff in airports and customer service areas as well as the use of Spanish-language boarding gate screens, kiosks and boarding announcements on flights between the United States and all destinations where Spanish is the main language.
In 2005, James was named one of the Most Influential Hispanics in Georgia by the business magazine Nuevo Impacto. Additionally, he was recognized in 2008 by CareerFOCUS Magazine and the National Eagle Leadership Institute with the Eagle Award for setting a higher standard of leadership in his corporate and community involvements.
James serves on the Boards of Junior Achievement – Mexico; American Society – Mexico; and DAL Private Limited in India.
Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and raised in San Juan, Puerto Rico, James attended the University of Puerto Rico. James is married and has three children.
