LOOK: Sophia Cassidy with Liz&BettyThis event will take place on the unceded land of the people of the Yuggera Nation. We would like to pay our respects to elders past, present and emerging. We acknowledge that this land was violently invaded, that colonisation continues to this day and that sovereignty was never ceded.
We invite you to the opening of the first event in our exciting new program, LOOK! Exhibition one celebrates the work of local artists Sophia Cassidy and LizandBetty. Through a convergence of sound and visual, together these artists will debut LOOK’s exhibition program which seeks to create a cooperative space for artists and DJs to expand Meanjin’s creative community and share in a stimulating experience.

SOPHIA CASSIDY
Sophia Cassidy is a multidisciplinary artist based in Meanjin. Her practice weaves natural dyes, drawing, paint and textiles to examine how these mediums are modes of fiction. Cassidy employs their application to create contemporary visual narratives which subvert and complicate our understandings of the spatial, temporal and corporeal realms of storytelling.
Sophia's work will be on display in the space for the duration of the month available to view from 5pm Wednesday- Saturday, June 5th - July 1st.
LIZ & BETTY
Lizandbetty aka Wayan Preston and Vissy Hoffie are a collaborative duo. Their work blurs the boundaries of art and design, high and low culture, draws from history and the future to produce images, objects, projects and promises.
LOOK being only their second time taking to the decks to a live audience, the duo are breaking their way into spheres of house meets hip hop and every genre in between.
