UPDATE: SOLD OUTAs part of the month-long Longfellow Days celebration in Brunswick, PHC offers this new and groundbreaking look at the lives of the first famous couple to inhabit the house–Henry Wadsworth Longfellow and his first wife, Mary Potter.
Offered at 11AM and 1PM on Saturday, February 15, this tour and talk focuses on Longfellow’s origin story–how he developed into the world-famous poet he became–thanks in large part to the relationship he had with his first wife.
The tour is led by author and researcher Gemma Cannon, with Chamberlain context provided by Pejepscot History Center executive director, Larissa Vigue Picard. Gemma, a grief specialist and author of Voices of the Night, uses the Longfellows’s story, HWL’s poetry, and other 19th century voices to help people live with grief.
Gemma has discovered rich new material about Henry’s first wife, and more than we ever knew about Henry’s early writing.
