Why are we planning a Longest Table Event?
Food is Love. This kind of event doesn’t just feed people—it nourishes relationships, confidence, and a sense of belonging. When neighbors gather around a common table, barriers of income, background, and belief begin to fade. These shared experiences build confidence in reaching out, sparking new conversations, and lay the foundation for a more unified community. Food, in this way, becomes more than sustenance—it becomes a symbol of love, welcome, and possibility.
Why does Evansville need a Longest Table Event?
Evansville, like other towns and cities across the nation, faces issues that divide rather than unite. According to the USDA, 40% of the Neighborhoods in the Evansville area are Food Deserts and 20% of our residents are dealing with Food Insecurity. The act of gathering isn’t just social; it’s transformational. It reminds us that beneath our differences, we all seek connection, dignity, and a sense of belonging.
