All-female trio features heavenly harmonies on songs about haunts, spirits, and splendid storiesGarden City: Our Times Coffeehouse, a monthly series at the Ethical Humanist Society of Long Island on the border of Garden City and Mineola, will keep the spirit of Halloween going with local legends Mountain Maidens on Friday, Nov. 7 at 8:00.
The all-female trio, consisting of Marie Mularczyk O'Connell, Candice Baranello and Lorraine Berger, will include songs of autumn, hauntings and ghosts the evening's program. A folk act in the truest sense of the word, the trio boast three dynamic voices blended in splendid ancient and modern harmonies that will lift your spirit, excite your senses, and warm your heart. They sing ballads, folk songs, Medieval, Irish traditional music, holiday music, love songs, country and gospel songs including themes of social justice to the accompaniment of guitars, banjo, shruti box, ukelele, dulcimer, mandolin, bouzouki, dumbec, spoons, castanets, and lots of percussion.
The evening will start with an open mic at 7:30 (doors open and signup at 7:00), with the feature act starting around 8:30. Tickets are $20, sold at the door only. Coffee and desserts will be sold at a very reasonable price.
