About this Event
Join CPRE London and friends for a meander along the River Brent, hearing about the river’s recent history including river restoration work and rewilding in the area. The walking tour will start at South Greenford tube, and we’ll follow the river to finish near Hanwell station.
The Brent is one of London's longest rivers. Over 16 miles long, it runs through four London boroughs and joins the Thames at Brentford. An urban river, the Brent flows alongside the A406 North Circular Road through Brent Park and the Brent Reservoir. Local community projects have helped to improve the river and its banks for residents and wildlife, and the current Restoring Brent Rivers and Communities Project is engaging and collaborating with local people to restore and improve sections of the river habitats and make the river more accessible to visitors, improving the health of the river and the wellbeing of local residents.
The terrain will be relatively flat. We advise that you wear comfortable footwear and clothes suitable for the weather, and bring plenty of water. We plan to hold the walk whatever the weather, although will advise participants with plenty of notice should the walk need to be cancelled.
