We are delighted to offer a monthly series of Romance focused events to take place on the second Wednesday of every month. With a variety of events and many exciting authors in store, London Loves Stories will be a yearlong celebration of everything love and literature can offer!
Join us at Waterstones Piccadilly for an intimate book club-style evening with Emma Denny, hosted by Bethany Rutter, where we will be discussing Emma Denny's latest release; All the Painted Stars.
When Lily Barden discovers her best friend Johanna’s hand in marriage is being awarded as the main prize at a tournament, she is determined to stop it. Disguised as a knight, she infiltrates the contest, preparing to fight for Jo’s hand. But her conduct ruffles feathers, and when a dangerous incident escalates out of Lily’s control, Jo must help her escape.
Finding safety with a local brewster, Lily and Jo soon settle into their new freedom, and amongst blackberry bushes and lakeside walks an unexpected relationship blossoms. But when Jo’s past catches up with her and Lily’s reckless behaviour threatens their newfound happiness, both women realise that choices must always come at a cost. The question they need to ask is if the cost is worth the price of love.
Emma Denny is a queer author of LGBT+ historical romance stories about yearning, swordplay, and kissing in the woods. She enjoys walks in the forest, collecting daggers, and overpriced craft beer. Winner of the Mills & Boon Romance Includes Everyone competition, One Night in Hartswood is Denny’s debut novel. All the Painted Stars comes out March 2024.
Bethany Rutter is a novelist, podcaster and influencer from South-East London. She writes books about women, bodies and clothes.
Bethany dedicates her latest novel, Big Date Energy to everyone she dated during her prolific dating era, 2010-2015, for leaving her with such varied memories, feelings and experiences, which she plans to mine in her writing for years to come.
We encourage attendees to read the book beforehand to allow for an open discussion on the night. This is not, however, required for attending, and copies of the book will also be available to purchase online via the Book & Ticket bundle - to be collected at the event. Both Emma Denny & Bethany Rutter will be signing copies of their books on the night.
