London is the first British Black woman to be nominated for the Edinburgh Comedy ‘Best Show’ Award for her 2019 show, To Catch a D*ck, which was released on Netflix as her debut comedy special. Executive produced by Kevin Hart, To Catch a D*ck, recounts London’s adventures in dating and premiered globally on Netflix December 22, 2020.
London’s first book Living My Best Life, Hun was released in 2023. Kirkus Reviews wrote about the book “Hughes moves seamlessly between humorous self-deprecation and frank social analysis...(her) playful take on serious issues is irreverently charming, and the book will be especially appealing to Black women who have been gaslighted about the issues they've experienced in their own careers. Emboldened by the author's confidence, many readers will be able to put these insecurities to rest. A delightfully layered memoir about race, gender, and comedy.”
In 2020, she was awarded the Royal Television Society Award for “Best Entertainment Performance” for her work on ITV2’s hip-hop comedy quiz show Don’t Hate The Playaz. In 2021, she hosted The Netflix Afterparty, a first-of-its-kind weekly comedy after-show alongside Fortune Feimster and David Spade, and she starred in the Netflix hit History of Swear Words.
London has appeared in the BBC/Amazon award-winning and critically acclaimed series Fleabag, as well as The Stand-Up Sketch Show on ITV2.
London also created, wrote, and starred in her own YouTube comedy series, No Filter, which featured some of London’s brightest new talent. In addition, she has hosted Channel 5’s Extreme Hair Wars and appeared on BBC2’s satirical panel show Mock the Week. Her dating podcast London, Actually is available now on Spotify.
Currently, in the works at Screen Gems, London will star in an untitled comedy, with Cat Wilkins penning script and Tim Story directing. Todd Garner and Spencer Walken are producing on behalf of Broken Road. Hughes will also executive produce. The film follows a woman who is transported to 19th century England where she becomes entangled in and upends the love affairs of the community with her modern sensibilities.
London will next be seen in the soon-to-be-announced HartBeat documentary, GROUP THERAPY, where the world’s biggest comedians take us on a confessional ride through their challenges with mental health. It is set to premiere at a major film festival later this year.
Originally from Croydon, South London, she is currently based in Los Angeles.
