About this Event

Join us this summer as we take a trip to London to view different collections of the Impressionists and Expressionists. We will start at The National Gallery, where they have a large collection and from there, we’ll take a short walk to The Courtauld Gallery in Somerset House, where we will discover The Courtauld’s extraordinary Impressionist and Post-Impressionist collection.

Both collections feature paintings by Claude Monet, Edgar Degas, Pierre-Auguste Renoir, Paul Gauguin, with the most significant collection of works by Paul Cézanne in the UK at the Courtauld. Other highlights here, include world-famous masterpieces such as Édouard Manet’s A Bar at the Folies-Bergère and Vincent van Gogh’s Self-Portrait with Bandaged Ear.

We will be guided by Jo Wilson, who will talk us through the work at both galleries and provide some background knowledge to help us appreciate what we see.

Also, currently at the Courtauld Gallery is the exhibition by Expressionist Artist Edvard Munch. Titled Edvard Munch. Masterpieces from Bergen. The exhibition is a partnership between The Courtauld and KODE art museums in Bergen, Norway. KODE in Bergen is home to the one of the most important Munch collections in the world. This exhibition will bring together some 18 paintings from this collection – the first time a comprehensive group of works from the collection has been seen outside Norway.

Your booking covers transport to and from London, gallery and exhibition entry.

A mini bus will be provided from the park and ride at the Forest Recreation Ground (The meeting point is by the car park entrance to the park and ride). We will leave at 8:30 and arrive back by 20:30/21:00

There is a 10 minute walk between The National Gallery and The Courtauld Gallery. If you would rather use public transport, there is a bus you could catch.
