Hypnotic harmony folk trio Lon Dubh on their UK-wide May tour, supported by York native and country/folk artist Sophie Hammill.
About this Event

Lon Dubh are a three part harmony trio singing hypnotic original songs inspired by landscapes of Ireland, England, Scotland and Wales and its ancient folklore. Expect carefully crafted songs for three voices that sound like they’ve always existed.

Hailing from Ireland and England, Lon Dubh are Branwen Kavanagh, Anna Ling and Anna Anise. Summer 2023 saw their first international performance as a trio at Stimmen Festival Ettiswil in Switzerland.

All three are established solo artists in their own right, drawing upon folk traditions in their own unique ways. Branwen Kavanagh is a prolific composer and songwriter, musician, sculptor, storyteller, puppeteer, visual artist, writer of surreal visual plays and a lively adventurer from the West of Ireland. Branwen has supported artists such as Mama’s Broke, This is the Kit and performed their original material with many of Ireland's finest musicians including Glen Hansard/Lisa O’Neill/Lankum/Ye Vagabonds. The trio sing arrangements derived from Branwen's original compositions.

Anna Ling is a playful and poetic singer/songwriter, choir leader (Jam Jar Choir, Shambala Festival), and music teacher (Wren Music, Voice Camp, Steiner). She’s influenced by a strong connection to traditional British folk music and a long-running fascination with weird and wonderful singing styles from across the globe. Anna Anise is an arts producer (CHORUS Songwriting CIC) and folk musician folding traditional celtic tunes into her songwriting and supporting fellow women and non-binary artists through creative projects.

Between them, the trio have a wealth of experience in the alt-folk scenes playing at festivals and venues across the country. The trio have spent time as artists in residence at Hawkwod College and on Dartmoor this year ahead of their first UK-wide tour this May.
