LOLINA

Lolina is an electronic and digital musician, also known for her past projects as Inga Copeland. She was a member of the band Hype Williams between 2009 and 2013, collaborating with Dean Blunt on albums, EPs, CD-Rs, videos and performances. During this time she also recorded several solo EPs, with her final album under the Inga Copeland alias, “Because I’m Worth It” (2014), self-released after the split of the band.

Her first album as Lolina, Live in Paris, came out as a full-length video in 2016. A departure from traditional release formats, sonically it was defined by a move to digital composition. Lolina’s second album, The Smoke (2018), consolidated the songwriting techniques and musical arrangements of her EPs RELAXIN' with Lolina (2015) and Lolita EP (2017), including the use of presets, lo-fi drums, and half-sung half-spoken vocals.

Lolina’s live performances evolved through experiments with DJ equipment. Using CDJ players to loop, scratch and manipulate her existing recordings, she developed an improvisational cut up style exemplified on her third album Live in Geneva (2019). Further trials with playback equipment and software led to the release of Who is experimental music? (2019).

MAN MADE HILL

Hamilton’s Randy Gagne has been an underground music staple on Planet Ontario for the past 15-20 years. His live solo performance congeals synthetic pop, delusional funk, soundtrack music, and existential comedy into a dank and bewildering buffet. Bring your tongue and taste the pain!

PLEASE

Please is the experimental surrealist solo project of Hamilton-based multidisciplinary artist and performer Becky Katz (Sourpussy, glassEYElashes, Freaky Boos). With spur-of-the-moment improvisations that weave together voice samples with live instrumentation, Please cracks open a disorienting portal that invites listeners into her own musical psycheof phantasmagoric audio collages, all with a gleeful grin on her face..

TENSES

Catherine Debard has roots in Montreal’s experimental music scene, a community in which she has been actively involved for several years. Under the moniker YlangYlang, a solo project she has developed since 2012, she has released records internationally on labels such as Crash Symbols (USA), Phinery (DK), and ΠΑΝΘΕΟΝ (RU). She has also created and produced video game soundtracks for Montreal artist Palgal, audio hypnosis sessions for Ascension Hypnosis, and has given many creative music workshops. Debard has toured extensively in Canada, and has performed at international music festivals including Mutek Montreal, Suoni Per Il Popolo, Electric Eclectics, Strangewaves. In 2019, she was part of Red Bull Music Academy at the National Music Center, in Calgary. More recently, she participated as a part of Mue in A discard studies, a collaboration with visual artist Katherine Melançon, presented at MTelus for Mutek Montreal. Beginning in 2024, Catherine has reserved the YlangYlang title for her massive band; as Tenses, Catherine returns to her roots as a solo performer, creating organic soundscapes to soothe the soul.
