Lokrang 2025 is scheduled to take place on April 11-12, 2025, in the village of Jogia Janubi Patti, Fazilnagar, Kushinagar district, Uttar Pradesh. Organized by the Lokrang Sanskritik Samiti, this two-night festival is dedicated to celebrating India’s rich folk culture through traditional music, dance, and art. This year’s festival is a tribute to the renowned folk singer, the late Sharda Sinha and our beloved friend, late Surendra Sharma. The event will feature a variety of performances, including tribal dances and folk music. Notably, a team from Nainital will present Garhwali and Kumaoni dances, while groups from Assam and Amarkantak will showcase Karbi Anglong and Gond tribal dances, respectively. Padma Shri awardee Prahlad Singh Tipaniya, acclaimed for his Kabir singing, will be a highlight of the festival.
On April 12, a symposium titled “Folk Culture, Myth, and Science” will be held, featuring experts, writers, and journalists from across the country and abroad. Esteemed scientist, poet, and author Gauhar Raza is among the notable participants. The festival aims to promote and preserve folk traditions, providing a platform for non-commercial folk artists, especially those from rural areas.
