About this Event
A collaboration between the Sparks Street BIA and the Ottawa Music Industry Coalition (OMIC) is bringing local music to The Shed on Sparks Street all summer long! The lunchtime concert series, Songs from the Shed, will take place every Tuesday and Thursday from 12pm-1:30pm. Music lovers from the Ottawa region are invited to come enjoy lunch outdoors with a variety of captivating singer-songwriters in solo or duo formations. The project will be run by Ottawa’s own Jessy Lindsay, bilingual singer-songwriter and program coordinator.
July 11th's feature, Loch Nisse Monster, originated from the swamps of an Ottawa 70's-themed house party, where in a drunken haze the singer-songwriter was told that her name sounded like the famous monster of Loch Ness. Nisse brings the folky vibe of this mysterious fantastical creature to her songwriting, telling stories and painting joyous and painful emotions. Along with musical inspiration from the genres of rock, pop, and punk, the "monster" in Loch Nisse Monster doesn't hesitate to get at ironic and unjust truths in the world around, yet with the hope of tales.
Loch Nisse Monster has begun to rise to recognition in the Ottawa music scene, playing venues across Ontario and Quebec. She worked with local producer Kieran Isley of Country Club Pool Poy and released her debut single, Fog in the Window, on April 5. Nisse performs live solo and with a band. Upcoming show dates include June 16 at the Wellington West Sunday Series, July 7 at Live! On Elgin for the Summer Indie Folk Nite, August 1 as the feature at Lowertown Brewery, and August 8 opening for famed Nate Silva at Overflow Brewery.
