Join us for a local author meet & greet, featuring local writers of all different genres—from poetry to local history, novels to children's literature! At each event, we host a small group of authors from the area who are eager to meet you, their future reader, and tell you about their books.

Julia Wendell | The Art of Falling (Poetry)
Julia Wendell was born the year Ginsberg wrote Howl. Twelve moons ring her Jupiter. One is named Poetry. Another, Horse. Two are named for her children, and one for her husband, Barrett Warner. There’s the moon of the Alleghenies, where she grew up, and moons for her teachers: Norman Dubie at Arizona, Larry Levis at the Iowa Writers Workshop, and Helen Vendler at Boston University. Her undergraduate moon is Cornell University, where she studied literature and music. There’s even a moon called Piano that swings across her widening sky.
Darlene DeCrane | The Four Forever Friends (Juvenile Fiction)
Darlene is originally from Ohio where she earned a B.S. Degree in Elementary Education and a M.A. Degree in Educational Administration and Supervision from Bowling Green State University. Her professional career includes eighteen years as a classroom teacher and twelve years as an elementary principal. She was recognized as both a Martha Holden Jennings Scholar and a nominee for State Teacher of the Year in Ohio. In 2003, after retirement, Darlene relocated to the beaches of North Carolina. The creation of this, Darlene's first children's book, has been a family effort and a positive outcome of the Coronavirus of 2020.
Allison Paige | After the Bees (Fantasy)
Allison Paige’s novels are inspired by Christianity and mythology that sheds light on villains and the darker side of what it takes to make a hero. Allison Paige loves traveling with her camera, particularly in the Irish countryside, and has several ongoing projects that she writes out of her home in Charleston, South Carolina with her corgi. She fills her spare time working with animals of all types and is a fervent advocate of bee, ocean, and wildlife conservation.
