About this Event
If you’re fond of sand dunes and salty air, quaint little villages here and there, then this Taste of Cape Cod is the class for you. Join food writer and author of Discover Cape Cod, Shawnie Kelley, for a hands-on journey through iconic New England coastal dishes.
Here’s what you’ll create:
- Lobster Rolls: Learn to prepare this Maine classic from start to finish, beginning with boiling and removing lobster meat from the tail, then crafting a traditional, buttery Maine-style roll.
- Clam Chowder: Whip up Shawnie’s original brothy clam chowder, loaded with clams and potatoes, and finished with crispy bacon crumbles—a recipe destined to become a staple in your kitchen.
- Blueberry Buckle: End on a sweet note with this traditional New England dessert, a coffee cake-like treat with a streusel topping. Along the way, learn the differences between buckle, cobbler, crumble, crisp, and slump.
Throughout the class, Shawnie will share her knowledge of Cape Cod food traditions and techniques, making this a flavorful and enriching experience.
