About this Event
Join us for our Amor y Comunidad Hike at Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District's Sierra Azul Preserve on Sunday, February 22nd at 8am. Please arrive early to find parking, settle in and find the group.
Sierra Azul is the largest of the open space lands that Midpen manages, and protects more than 19,000 acres of wilderness in the Santa Cruz Mountains. With 26 miles of multiuse trails for hiking, dog walking, biking and horseback riding, the varied landscape offers visitors views of serpentine grasslands, rocky and steep chaparral, dense stands of bay trees, shaded oak woodland forests, deep ravines and riparian corridors that surround the seasonal or year-round water flow.
Hike details: 4.2 miles with 472 ft elevation gain. The first 2.8 miles are moderate-hard (Mt Umunhum Trail), with a big uphill and downhill, the last 1.4 miles (Blad Mountain Trail) are relatively easy and flat.
