About this Event
J oin us for a special event in collaboration with The Marigold Society, NorCal Resist, and Sol Collective to learn the history and travels of cempasuchil (marigolds) through time. We will be planting rows of marigolds at the Seeds of Solidarity Urban Farm for community use during Dia de los Muertos, as well as share a picnic together. You can expect to learn about cempasuchil's origins and how it has traveled globally, about planting and growing your own cempasuchil, contribute to a community growing project, and meet others that love this special flower as much as you do.
Our Mission -
Marigolds for the Movement emerged from the need for ethically sourced marigolds for Dia de Los Muertos. We believe our ancestors deserve to be honored with intention, and that everyone has the right to connect with cempasuchil. Our goal is to connect people with the sacred flower by encouraging others to build relationships with the plant and to grow them, whether with us or in their own spaces.
We want to continue the legacy of our ancestors by learning from our plant relatives and incorporating their wisdom into our practices. Our relationship with the cempasuchil is deeply rooted in traditions, rituals, ceremonies, recipes and our cultural ways that honor both the land and our heritage. We are keeping our ancestral wisdom alive by sharing our stories, our collective knowledge, our relationships, and our experiences. Through marigolds for the movement, we aim to cultivate a deeper connection to our history, our roots and our community.

Note: Latino Outdoors activities are free and in service to our communities. Our volunteer leaders donate time and energy to plan these experiences, paying close attention to the number of people each event can accommodate. Please honor your reservation, and if you are unable to attend an event that you signed up for, take a moment to cancel your reservation so that another community member may participate and volunteer organizers can plan accordingly. Nuestra Misión -
Cempasuchil para el Movimiento surgió de la necesidad de cempasuchil de origen ético para el Día de Los Muertos. Creemos que nuestros ancestros merecen ser honrados con intención y que todos tienen derecho a conectarse con cempasúchil. Nuestro objetivo es conectar a las personas con la flor sagrada alentando a otros a establecer relaciones con la planta y cultivarla, ya sea con nosotros o en sus propios espacios.
