About this Event
LO x Texas Land Conservancy | Beautiful Hike Through Los Madrones
Join us for a scenic hike through the stunning landscape of Los Madrones, a family ranch near Dripping Springs! This hike, brought to you by LO Austin and Texas Land Conservancy (TLC), promises a beautiful view and a chance to connect with a part of the hill country not seen by many. Bring a friend and get ready to explore the beauty of this hidden gem.
This planned hike is more challenging than a leisurely stroll that will take about 2 hrs. It's not stroller-friendly, so we recommend this hike for anyone comfortable with a moderate trail with some rocky sections and elevation change.
We hope you join us in the natural beauty of Los Madrones!
Before the hike, know this:
What is Los Madrones:
Los Madrones is a 400-acre property in the heart of the Hill Country, outside of Dripping Springs. The land is named after the Texas Madrone trees that grow on the property. The property is protected by a conservation easement: a legal agreement between a property owner and a qualified conservation organization (often a “land trust”), such as TLC. This kind of legal agreement ensures the property can never be subdivided, nor developed. The landowners currently manage the property for wildlife and conduct various wildlife management practices including brush management, annual bird counts, and maintaining watering stations for wildlife.
Here is also a TLC blog about the property
***The exact address will be shared with registered attendees.
Trail Conditions:
The 3-mile hike is off-trail with rocky terrain and some challenging sections, though overall it’s a moderate hike. It’s not ideal for young children or strollers as there is uneven terrain and brushy areas.
What to bring:
We recommend bringing/wearing long pants, sunscreen, insect repellent, a reusable water bottle, and snacks (we'll provide a small selection).
Restrooms:
Please use the restroom before arriving, as there are no facilities on-site, though there are plenty of trees and vegetation, in case you really have to go. (We'll bring some toilet paper)
Parking:
We always encourage carpooling, but there will be ample parking spaces. The address will be shared with registered attendees.
Animal Friends:
No pets, please. We'll make animal friends on the trail!
