About this Event

We are delighted to offer a monthly series of Romance focused events to take place on the second Wednesday of every month. With a variety of events and many exciting authors in store, London Loves Stories will be a yearlong celebration of everything love and literature can offer!

Join us for an intimate book club-style evening with Laura Dockrill, in conversation with Bethany Rutter, as we discuss her adult debut novel, I Love You, I Love You, I Love You. Rich and gripping, Dockrill mines the rapture and torment of first love through an intimate and intense story of a girl secretly in love with her best friend for over a decade.

Ella and Lowe are teenagers when they first meet. For her, it’s love at first sight. But it’s also safest to love from afar, where the friendship zone is her safety net and she can’t get hurt. Over the next fifteen years, Ella and Lowe share everything: grief, laughter, friendship, bottles of cider, cigarettes in the rain.

But can you ever really just be friends with the love of your life? And what happens when the day comes when you can’t keep the beautiful, terrifying, all-consuming truth to yourself anymore?

Laura Dockrill is an award-winning children’s author, illustrator, scriptwriter and performance poet who has been shortlisted for the Waterstones’ Book of the Year prize. She is a poet-in-residence for Radio 1, and is also the founder of ‘This Is Not a Female Tribe’, a networking session for women in the arts. She grew up in Brixton, attended the Brit School and still lives in London with her husband and son. I Love You, I Love You, I Love You is her debut adult novel.

Bethany Rutter is an author from southeast London who mostly writes about women, bodies, relationships, dating and clothes. She is the author of five novels, three for young people and two for adults. She is the co-host of the books podcast What Page Are You On? which is currently on a break but will return soon, and is also in the process of becoming a personal trainer.

Please note: Book and ticket option includes a copy of I Love You, I Love You, I Love You (RRP. £16.99) which will be available for collection on the night.
