The yelling, the grabbing her arm a little too tight, the words I wish I could take back. And then the guilt + shame would hit afterwards. At the beginning, there were moments I'd keep to myself out of fear what others would think. I felt like a terrible mom. I'd tell myself, 'I don’t want to be this kind of mom,' or 'I'm sorry, that wasn't OK, I'll be better next time.' But yet I kept finding myself in similar situations, breaking the cycle felt impossible.
Now? The moments that used to be a 10/10 for me, they're more like a 3.
It's not about never being frustrated, it's about knowing how to support yourself when you do so you can heal and grow in those moments.
