We have Llanthony Secunda Priory Friday 29th. If anyone is interested to grabbing a ticket and coming along, check us out! Join Becki & her Ghosts & Giggles team for a night of ghost hunting at Llanthony Secunda Priory, searching for the lady in white, the family huddled together & the lost priors of yesteryear.
Founded in 1136 by Miles de Gloucester, 1st Earl Of Hereford, after the Augustinian canons were attacked by the local Welsh population of the original Llanthony Priory, near Monmouth. Known for their cheese making, in 1502 the Archbishop of Canterbury & the Prior Of Llanthony gave presents of Llanthony Cheese. After the dissolution of the monasteries, the priory was sold by the Crown to Arthur Porter, where he & his successors used parts of the buildings to live in until 1697. After this period, it was used as a farmstead.
All that remains now of the priory is the tithe barn, medieval range, the western gatehouse, along with the Victorian Farmhouse & 16th century Brick Range. All of which we will do plenty of experiments including Estes Method & Human Pendulum. Those who would like to go & investigate on their own can. Please make sure you wear comfortable waterproof shoes, bring a torch & dress for the weather, as we will be covering the whole grounds including all remains of buildings.
