Liz Roth is an OSU professor of painting and drawing. She served as interim Director for the Oklahoma State University Museum of Art. She is an oil painter who uses landscape to investigate social, environmental, optical and phenomenological concerns. Liz Roth’s art has been shown in over 100 competitive exhibitions, including over a dozen solo exhibitions. She is the recipient of numerous prestigious grants and 14 national and international residencies. Her work has been acquired by the Walker Museum of Art, the Museu del Joguet in Spain, and the Museum of Awa Japanese Paper. Her work has been exhibited in such venues as the Rendez-vous International du Carnet de Voyage in Clermont-Ferrand, France, the Sangre de Cristo Arts Center in Pueblo, CO, the Museum of Northern Arizona in Flagstaff, AZ and the Museum of Northwest Art in La Conner, WA.
Roth was a Fulbright Scholar in Guangzhou in 2019. She has been an artist in residence at the Golden Foundation for the Arts (New York), Xiaoxiang International Printmaking Center (Changsha, China) Brush Creek Foundation for the Arts (Wyoming), Ucross (Wyoming), Playa (Oregon), A Project Space (Washington), Grand Canyon National Park- North Rim (Arizona), Wrangell Mountain Center (in Alaska), Jentel (Wyoming), the Awagami Paper Factory (Japan), the Kamiyama (Japan) Artists in Residence program, and the Vermont Studio Center.
Roth earned her BA at Smith College (in Russian) and her MFA at the University of Wisconsin-Madison (in Graphics).
