Creating, caring and connecting with woodlands is at the heart of the work of Living Woods North East CIC. We want to mark the achievements of our work made possible by our woodlands volunteers, community tree growers, funders and friends.
Living Woods Conference 2024: Creating, Caring and Connecting will be staged at the Hexham and Northern Mart on Thursday November 28, during National Tree Week.
It is open to all who are connected with Living Woods, including all who are directly connected with Living Woods and our projects, and our those we work closely with, and also all who appreciate native woodlands.

- Hear from our Living Woods team about our woodland creation and management work, achievements and aims .
We also welcome our special conference guest speakers:-
Lee Schofield - author of , his account of a decade working for the RSPB at Haweswater in the Lake District National Park, where he oversaw pioneering conservation work including new woodland planting. Lee Schofield has written for a range of wildlife magazines and professional and academic journals. Wild Fell has been described as “a soaring elegy to nature, a book infused with a deep love of place, and a stirring call to restore wildlife to our landscapes”.
Dr Rachel Penn and Sian Atkinson from the Woodland Trust who will talk about the ancient woodlands of Northeast England – their biodiversity and cultural significance and the importance of creating new native woodland.
Enjoy a buffet lunch too! Vegetarian and Vegan options will be available, but individuals will need to check for food allergies/ intolerances.
