This presentation will focus on Florida’s native cats, the Florida panther and bobcats. Road kills are a real threat and are the number one cause of death in another Florida native cat species, the Florida panther. In addition to these fatal road crossings, an animal unexpectedly crossing the road can cause collisions with other motorists as drivers attempt to miss the animal. Aside from roadways, development continues to encroach on wildlife territories which can result in human-wildlife conflict. The methods suggested in this presentation will still need to be practiced which is why they make the best long-term solution to coexisting with native wildlife.
