As part of the Rafford's Growing Roots project, we are delighted to announce our plan to create a captivating living willow structure in the outdoor space and playground adjacent to the Village Hall, with the support of grant funds. In partnership with Naturally Useful, a team of sustainable landscaping experts, our aim is to transform this area into a lively and enchanting environment for our community.

This event aims to engage the community in a hands-on experience with nature while showcasing the potential of sustainable materials like willow. Participants will have the opportunity to learn about the environmental benefits of willow structures and contribute to the creation of a beautiful and functional installation.During the planting session, experienced guides from Naturally Useful will provide instructions on how to properly plant and care for willow structures. This will not only educate participants on the importance of sustainable practices, but also empower them to replicate these initiatives in their own homes or communities.

After the planting session, participants will be treated to a delicious soup lunch made from locally sourced and organic ingredients. This will not only provide nourishment, but also serve as a reminder of the positive impact sustainable food choices can have on the environment. We believe that events like these are crucial in raising awareness about sustainability and inspiring individuals to make a difference in their daily lives. By partnering with Naturally Useful, we hope to create a memorable experience that promotes a deeper understanding of the interconnectedness between nature, sustainability, and community.

This event is part of the "Rafford's Growing Roots Project" and free of charge thanks to generous funding by the UK Government's UK Shared Prosperity Fund with Moray Council. Residents of Rafford or Moray are the target audience of this grant-funded initiative, therefore completing all fields when booking is required to secure your spot.

This event is free. The Rafford's Growing Roots project places great importance on involving and engaging members of the local community in the nature and roots of our village, however anyone from Moray is welcome to attend.

Please note: while this event is free, we appreciate any donations. Your contributions will fund the design and creation of future events, particularly the development of a community outdoor space. This space will be co-created with Rafford families and villagers through a workshop in November 2024. It will include rewilding initiatives, land regeneration features, designated areas for gatherings, and playgrounds for children of all ages next to the Rafford Village Hall. Your support will establish an inclusive environment for the community.
