A two session workshop to support students to live well with anxiety
About this Event

Delivered over two sessions the course will help students to understand what anxiety is and how it effects our physical and emotional wellbeing. We introduce strategies to calm both the anxiety response in the body & the mind, with a variety of techniques. It will provide students with different approaches to build skills & strategies to live a more meaningful life.

Session 1 on the 12 June covers what anxiety might look like for different people & common symptoms. We introduce the cycle of anxiety, exploring the physical impact & using some relaxation techniques.

Session 2 on the 19 June moves on to looking at common thinking styles, focusing on worry, again introducing helpful skills to work with our thoughts.

The overall aim for the course is to live a more meaningful life with anxiety, covering:

  • Awareness of how anxiety manifests
  • Understanding what keeps anxiety going
  • How to spot our own cycle of anxiety
  • Identifying obstacles & possibilities
  • Providing ways to better manage the impact of our anxiety

The course is free of charge and is available to people that are over 18 and who live, work, study or care in Mid-Essex.

We ask all students to enrol with the Mid-Essex Recovery College prior to attending their first course to ensure that we are providing effective support for all students. New students will be emailed a link in order to complete the enrolment form.

If there is anything that you would like to discuss with us before the workshop runs please contact us on [email protected] and a member of the team will be in touch

The Mid-Essex Recovery College will provide a safe space for people to learn new skills, expand on existing ones, and attend courses developed to support mental health recovery. COURSES ARE THEREFORE NOT INTENDED TO BE ACCREDITED, however certificates are provided on completion.

Co-production is a core feature of recovery college ethos. Our courses are all co-produced by experts by experience (individuals with lived experience of mental health), as well as individuals with professional experience of working for mental health services
