The Mississippi State University Coastal Research and Extension Center invites you to attend one of our Living Shorelines workshops. The workshop will be held from 5:00 PM to 7:30 PM, with food provided. What is a living shoreline?
Living shorelines is a term used to describe environmentally friendly shoreline stabilization techniques that use natural elements such as native marsh grasses.
Why should you attend?
-Discover how living shorelines can combat erosion and explore our technical assistance and cost-share options.
-Through our living shoreline technical assistance program, property owners can receive free: shoreline assessment, living shoreline design, and living shoreline permitting assistance.
-In addition to the technical assistance, our living shoreline cost-share program is currently offering cost-assistance to shoreline property owners for installation of a living shoreline. This assistance will cover a portion of material costs for portions of the project below the mean high water line.
The workshop will begin with a presentation on living shorelines and their benefits. Afterward, we will work with you individually to discuss your shoreline needs and options.
