Volunteers are needed! Registration required. Join Pinellas County installing the next phase of the living shoreline enhancement at Philippe Park! We will be installing living shoreline elements along the northeastern seawall, and we'd love your help!
Minors 14+ are welcome. All participants will need to fill out a Liability Release Form in order to participate which will be available the day of the event. Bright Futures forms can be signed by County personnel if brought to the event.
Please note, this activity can be labor intensive. We will be wading into the water to place castle blocks, oyster bags, and oyster volcanoes. These weigh approximately 35 pounds each. Please wear appropriate clothing (and closed-toe shoes) that can get WET/dirty, and bring plenty of water. Event details will be emailed to registered participants prior to the event.
The GOALS of this project are:
*To improve water quality and provide additional aquatic habitat for wading birds, fish, and other organisms.
*To provide extra protection for the shoreline.
*To educate park visitors about living shorelines.
Funding for this project is provided by Pinellas County and Tampa Bay Environmental Restoration Fund grant.
For questions regarding the event contact Pinellas County Environmental Management 727-464-4703.
