About this Event

All staff and students are warmly invited to the Living Lab’s first-ever on-campus REPAIR FAIR! Entirely focused on skills for a climate-resilient future, and entirely fun and crafty.

Repair Table: bring your clothes, bags, and beloved (textile) items to be mended by skilled and friendly volunteers
Upcycling: Create a sewing kit to take home
Craftivism: get involved in the Living Lab’s Community Quilt

Skill sharing: We will be joined by wonderful members of Tadcrafters CIC, a group of skilled creatives who use their skills to support a range of charities and worthy causes whilst promoting craft skills. In 2024, the group made and gave away over 3400 items worth over £24,000 and saved around 1 tonne (1000kg) of fabric and yarn from landfill. Also joining are volunteers from The Grove Repair and Share Café.

Let’s craft and chat. Climate anxiety can be overwhelming. Research shows that working with your hands can be a welcome way to think about the world around you while creating something beautiful. This may mean being quiet, immersed in your making or chatting to others around you about what ‘climate resilience’ means to you.
