Ready to make your home truly work for you? Join this 7-week pilot program designed for empty-nesters and seniors who want to Live in Place. Through small group classes, real-life assignments, and two personalized in-home visits, learn how to simplify routines, reduce the overwhelm of “too much,” and create a functional, supportive home that reflects your values. By the end, you’ll walk away with your own customized Functional Living Home Plan to guide you toward lasting change. Only 6 spots available - Sign up today!
Program Format:
- Weekly small group sessions (Thursdays, 10–11am)
- Two in-home visits (scheduled individually)
- Final class celebration + your customized home plan
- Only 6 spots available – designed for connection, support and personalized attention.
Qualifications to Participate:
- Be ready to make meaningful changes in your home
- Commit to attending all classes (each week builds on the last)
- Must live in Fox Cities, Wisconsin listed below (in-home visits included)
- Fox Cities included in program service area: Appleton, Neenah, Menasha, Kimberly, Little Chute, Fox Crossing, Combined Locks, Greenville
Pilot Program Syllabus
Week 1 (Oct 9): Set the Stage for Living in Place
- Explore the 10 themes of Living in Place
- Learn how to make your home safer and more supportive
- Discover how to align home function with what you value most
Week 2 (Oct 16): Function & Simplify Everyday Living
- Use activity analysis to break down daily home activities and find easier ways to manage them
- Apply universal design principles to guide equipment choices and set up your home so it works with you—not against you.
Week 3 (Oct 23): Simplify Belongings & Support Your Focus
- Reduce household inventory in a way that highlights your favorite things without overwhelm
- Embed supportive systems into your home to encourage healthy habits and easier follow-through
- Learn strategies to reduce distractions and shift focus toward what truly matters
Week 4 (Oct 30): Putting It All Together – Function, Simplify, Focus
- Apply the 3 pillars (Function, Simplify, Focus) room by room to make your home functional
· Explore resources to maximize your independence in a supportive home
· Identify 1–3 meaningful goals to spearhead your upcoming in-home sessions
Weeks 5 & 6 (Nov 3–Nov 14): Personalized In-Home Sessions
- Apply class concepts directly to your space through individualized support with two in-home visits (1 each week)- There will be a sign-up form in class to schedule the day/time for your home visits.
- Receive hands-on assistance to make your home safer, more functional, and aligned with your routines and values
- Develop a working draft of your customized Functional Living Home Plan
Week 7 (Nov 20): Celebrate & Finalize Your Plan
- Reflect on progress and celebrate accomplishments with the group
- Receive your finalized Functional Living Home Plan
- Leave with tools and strategies to maintain a functional, supportive home.
