About this Event
At LJMU, we are unequivocal in our commitment to putting students at the heart of everything that we do and, as such, our Diversity and Inclusion activity is embedded across all aspects of our life as an institution. We recognise that working in partnership with our students, stakeholders and the communities we serve is key to driving change.
Launched in 2022 by Unite Students, Living Black at University explores the experiences of Black students across both university and purpose-built student accommodation (PBSA), amplifying their voices and setting out a series of robust recommendations for meaningful change. The report highlights the link between student success and satisfaction in their accommodation. A subsequent Living Black at University Commission has been convened to maintain the momentum initiated by the research across the sector as a whole.
This symposium will bring together students, academics and professionals working in universities and student accommodation providers in Liverpool to discuss the findings and recommendations of Living Black at University in the context of ongoing decolonisation practice within higher education. Participants will be encouraged to think collaboratively about how they can go further to embed a sense of inclusion and belonging across the HEI-PBSA partnership.
This event is free to attend but places are limited.
